Raul Ibanez, his left cheek swollen and filled with chewing tobacco, used all his wiley veteraness to punch a broken bat single through the hole between first and second with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth. The Phillies now lead the Padres 2-1 in a surprising August matchup of two playoff contenders, but the bases remain loaded for Luke Gregerson to try and quell the fire.
