Call me overly sentimental, but when a backup catcher batting .172 comes into a game and collects 2 hits, a home run and 4 RBI, a little bit of warmth fills my cold, cold heart. It’s made a little less special in that Indians backup Chris Gimenez put up those numbers while his team carried out a brutal dismantling of the Royals 15-4, but it’s still nice. Whether or not the team expressly needed the runs or not.
It also looks as if I was premature in saying that Bryan Bullington’s time had come after his 8 inning outing against the Yankees two starts ago. Bullington has reverted to his old ways very quickly and lasted only 4 innings while giving up 7 runs to the Indians. Sorry Bully, but I think you’ll be getting used to riding the buses pretty soon.
