Call it fate, call it luck, call it a bad time to take a screen shot, but Shane Victorino really earned those stars coming out of his face today. Victorino has been struggling mightily in the second half while posting only a .669 OPS, but there were signs of the breakout that Charlie Manuel has been waiting for as Victorino picked up a single and a triple while driving in two runs in the Phillies 3-1 win over the Padres. These Phillies wins against the NL’s best team are extremely important in both the standings and for marale after dropping four in a row to the Astros.
Joe Blanton got the win while Jon Garland dropped to 13-9.
