Yes, Carlos Lee is atrocious in the field, his OPS will probably fail to make it past the .750 mark, and he will be a negative contributor to the Astros, but he’s now only one home run away from 20 on the year. And that deserves a little respect. Lee hit his 19th of the season against Johan Santana on Saturday as the Astros beat the Mets 4-1. If I was the Astros team doctor though, I would probably be asking to examine Lee. He took an extremely slow trot that seemed to be at top speed—unless Lee is secretly in his mid 60s, no man should move that slowly.
For Santana, he may not have been sharp, but it’s his ninth loss in games when he gives up more than one run. And that’s just not fair.
