This is the Jay Bruce that was the #1 prospect in 2008. Against the Brewers last night, Bruce was 2-3 with a home run and the walk-off single that moved the Reds to 6 games in front of the Cardinals in the NL Central. Just a few short weeks ago I thought the Cardinals would take the division and if they failed it would at least go down to the wire. But if Jay Bruce keeps playing the way he has in the last few games, that point will be lost to the sands of time.
Across the last 4 games, Jay Bruce has gone 8-15 with 5 HR, 8 RBI and 3 walks. He’s absolutely unstoppable and when you combine Bruce with a possible triple crown winner in Joey Votto you can certainly understand why people in Cincinnati are excited.
