I criticize Mark Reynolds a lot in this space, so it’s only fair to celebrate his achievements as well. The day that I can do anything other than strikeout in a Major League baseball game is the day that I can truly pass judgment, but there was nothing to complain about his performance today.
Reynolds went 3-4 with 2 home runs in the Diamondbacks 7-2 victory against the Padres as he picked up home runs number 30 and 31. Mark Reynolds has now hit 120 home runs across three and a half seasons which is pretty remarkable for a player ranked 12th in the Diamondbacks system coming into the 2007 season by John Sickels with a note that he could be a “Mark Bellhorn type.” For those that don’t remember, Bellhorn only hit 17 or more home runs twice, which is the least amount of home runs Mark Reynolds has had in any Major League season.
Until tomorrow when you strikeout three times, great job Mark!
