Let’s Play Extras

Not so fast, Associated Press. Considering how the Red Sox season has gone, there is a decent chance that tonight’s Red Sox - Orioles game goes 35 innings:

“The Reds’ Drew Stubbs ended Mark Reynolds’ run of three straight years leading majors in strikeouts. Stubbs struck out 205 time and Reynolds had 195 heading into the Orioles’ season finale Wednesday night.”

If this is truly the end, let’s pay respect to the man who makes Reggie Jackson look like a slap hitter. Reynolds has struck out 833 times over the last four seasons, and is a third of the way to breaking Jackson’s all-time record of 2,597 whiffs.

Stubbs finishes his season with a .245/.323/.367 line, though the K’s tempered by his excellent centerfield defense (even if UZR disagrees with that assessment).
