Theo Epstein On His Way Out?

From Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald

“Two baseball sources have confirmed that Theo Epstein is on the cusp of leaving his job as general manager of the Red Sox to accept a position with the Chicago Cubs that is believed to include powers greater than he has in Boston, with an announcement expected to be made “within the next 24 to 48 hours.”

Buckley also notes that the Red Sox would expect something significant in return for Epstein. To me, that would mean a case of Vienna beef hot dogs and Bryan LaHair, but that’s just because I find LaHair to be one of the most hilarious names in baseball.

It will be the end of an era in Boston if Epstein leaves as he brought the team two championships, a series of disguises, turned the Red Sox into yearly powerhouse, and helped elevate the role of the general manager to that of a superstar.
