And Your Most Fashionable Major League Ballplayer is…

Drum roll please, and could I get a little mood music, too? Ahem, maybe a glass of water to help clear my throat because SERGIO ROMO is the 2011 inaugural Old Time Family Baseball Most Fashionable Ballplayer Award Winner.

While the votes were close in round one, in a rematch of last year’s World Series, Sergio Romo left little doubt that he was the best dressed player, taking nearly 85% of the vote.

Sure, Ian Kinsler’s high socks and bloused pants are a nice look, but in the end, the people decided that Romo’s constant on-field sartorial tinkering was too perfect too often.

Whether Romo went with the high, striped socks, the low pants, the full beard, or the rare Burnsides, he was always a sight to behold.

So hold your head high, Sergio. Your team may not be playing in the World Series, but you just won an award that is much, much, much more valuable*.

*Unless you’re talking about cash value. Then it’s really no contest.
