Just like Samson and his long flowing locks, I assume that Clay Buchholz gets all of his power from his long, luxurious hair. Buchholz held the White Sox to one run over eight innings to get his 17th win of the season while lowering his ERA to a scant 2.33. I’ll admit I was wrong about Buchholz—I had been a member of “trade him if you get a good enough offer camp” when I thought he would forever be a 5 inning, 8 strikeout, 5 walk kind of pitcher. Which is the kind that will thrill you once a month and frustrate you every other week.
While Buchholz will probably see his ERA correct itself a little next year since his walk and strikeout numbers do not really support his current ERA, he will still be an above average pitcher who is still developing.
The East Coast Sox beat Mark Buehrle and the Midwest Sox 6-1 while David Ortiz and Adrian Beltre both eclipsed the 100 RBI mark on the season.
