David Freese’s shredded jersey is headed to the Hall of Fame.  Why is it shredded? Well, that’s all thanks to Nick Punto, master of team building exercises:

The “Shredder” is the nickname given to Cardinals second baseman Nick Punto, who picked up the habit this season of going up to fellow players, grabbing them by the top button of their shirt and pulling. The resulting explosion of buttons and cloth leaves the wearer “shredded.”

And here I was hoping the practice was related to the villain from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
