Even on hangover day, the Phillies came awfully close to beating the Nationals. With the Phillies completely in control of the playoffs, I very much doubt that they care that Adam Dunn beat them with a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth.
Sure, maybe Jose Contreras cares, and in some way the Phillies would probably like to win every game they play, but yesterday they were probably too busy puking and taking extra strength Tylenol to get too worked up over it.
After Dunn homered, the Nats stormed the field and celebrated, but it must have felt empty. Celebrating a meaningless win a day after watching the opposing team celebrate an actual achievement? That’s rough.
