Eric Hinske, who I affectionately call the box for his square and unathletic appearance, hit the go ahead home run in the seventh inning against the Marlins to give the Braves a little breathing room with only a few scant days left in the season.
The Braves may limp their way into the postseason, but with Martin Prado joining Chipper Jones on the inactive list, it will be up to career bench guys like Eric Hinske and Omar Infante to keep Bobby Cox’s final days as Braves manager a happy and successful one.
The Braves will still need to go through Philadelphia in the final weekend before they can claim a postseason birth which will not be an easy task.
