PJ Walters got a little gift to end his season with a starting spot against the hopeless and hapless Pirates. (Though they have secured the Number 1 pick in next year’s draft. That’s still number one at something!)
Walters, in only his third start and seventh appearance on the season, threw seven scoreless innings in the best perfomance of the season and probably of his short Major League career. Unfortunately Walters can’t expect to go up against the Pirates in every appearance and until he finds a way to replicate this type of game against a much better team, he’ll probably continue getting a handful of big league appearances every season.
