Pirates Sign Clint Barmes - Sure, the years and price seem a bit steep to people and it’s unlikely that the road to postseason glory is paved through Barmes and Rob Barajas, but I’ve always like Barmes. Perhaps I’m putting too much stock into my memories from 2005, the year that I moved from casually obsession with the game to aggressive obsession thanks to my first experiences with the MLB cable package, when Barmes injured himself carrying too much meat on his back during that great first half of his rookie season. Or perhaps I just really like aging middle infielders. Both are possible.
Rangers Sign Joe Nathan - Giving 2 years and nearly $15 million to a 37 year-old reliever who recently had Tommy John surgery might be risky but…how was I going to finish this sentence?
