Angels Trade Jeff Mathis to Blue Jays for LHP Brad Mills

How I imagine the scene went down after the trade:

Mike Scioscia wanders the halls of Angels HQ, shouting at the top of his lungs.

Mike Scioscia: Jeff! Jeff! Come on out, boy! Jeff, where are you? Jeff!

Angels GM Jerry DiPoto rounds the corner.

Jerry DiPoto: There you are, Mike. Sit down, I need to speak with you.

Scioscia: Oh, hey Jerry. Have you seen Jeff? I wanna show him this frog I caught.

DiPoto: About that…Mike, I need to tell you something. Jeff’s…not going to be here anymore. He’s moved on.

Scioscia: What do you mean? Where is he? At the dentist?

DiPoto: No, Mike, you’re not listening. Jeff’s… not coming back.

Scioscia: You’re lying!

DiPoto: He was so unhappy, Mike, always flailing at those breaking balls low and away. So I uhh, I sent him to a farm upstate. Way upstate. In another country. Where he can run free and feel the brisk Canadian wind in his hair as he only receives mid-80s belt high fastballs. He’s in a better place now.

Scioscia: You think so?

DiPoto: I know so. And if it makes you feel any better, I’ve got a surprise for you. I got you a new catcher. Huh, how’s that sound? Chris, you wanna come out here?

Scioscia: I don’t want another catcher, I want my catcher! You don’t even know what to look for in a catcher, only I do. And Jeff Mathis was the most perfect catcher in the history of baseball.

DiPoto: Come on, Mike. Don’t be like that. Meet the new guy, I’m sure you’ll like him. You can show him how to sequence pitches all day if you want.

Scioscia: I’m running away, Jerry. I’m running away and never coming back.

Mike Scioscia runs down the hall, stuffs a few bags of gummy worms into his backpack and heads out the front door. Chris Iannetta walks around the corner.

Iannetta: You called me, Jerry?

DiPoto: Nevermind, Chris. Just…nevermind.
