50 Best Players Not in the Hall of Fame, Part Deux

New and improved from last year, Graham Womack from Baseball Past and Present once again asked members of NABLA (North American Baseball Lovers Association*) to submit their ballot for the fifty best baseball players not currently in the Hall of Fame. It’s the second year that I’ve taken part and this time Graham not only extended the list of players to choose from to nearly 400, but he also included a secondary “should he be in the Hall?” question which adds more depth to the already endless debate.

Selecting the players is always a very fun, if time consuming, activity, as it not only forces me to learn more about the history of the game, but to also re-evaluate my position on the Hall. It turns out that not only am I a fan of a large Hall of Fame, throwing my support behind culturally significant players like Curt Flood, but that I also value peak performance more than longevity and want to see more attention paid to the pre-1900s era.
