Consecutive World Series called by Joe Buck, setting a record and bypassing Curt Gowdy and the God of All Baseball, Vin Scully.
While Buck is a decent enough broadcaster I suppose, but even Buck knows he’s no Scully. Says Buck about the record:
“It means that FOX has a lot of money. Because without FOX, that question wouldn’t even be asked. Let’s be honest, it’s more due to FOX’s ability to secure rights to Major League Baseball than my ability to keep calling the games.”
I’m not the biggest Joe Buck fan, but thirteen years is a long time, regardless of how much money FOX has, so congratulations are in order. Especially for not losing his mind while sitting in the booth with Tim McCarver for most of them.
