Mop Up Duty: Puerto Rican Baseball Experience →

Puerto Rico was once a hotbed for baseball talent with the likes of Josh Gibson and Roberto Clemente calling it home during the winter. Sadly, thanks in part to the draft, the talent pool has dried up and the Puerto Rico Winter League features only four teams.

Determined to mine for gold, Callum Hughson traveled there for a few games and reported back his findings. It’s funny, it’s sad, and Randy Ruiz and Ryan Rowland-Smith pop up. What more could you want?

It’s a great read and one that will make you wish you hadn’t just used up all that vacation time on the 14th Annual Barbecue and Bikini Championships (man, how I wish that was a thing.) So go, read it, and report back with your plan on how to return the island to its baseball roots.
