Great Moments in Missed Marketing Opportunities

The A’s have gone ahead and made a Rollie Fingers bobblehead. This is a good thing. He is wearing his yellow pullover top. This is another good thing. He also has his mustache painted on. Yet again, a good thing.  What could be missing then, you ask?

Sadly, the promotions team missed out on an opportunity to take a good thing and make it a great and remarkable thing. All that this bobble is lackin is a soft, flexible, windblown-able, real life stache. Sure, everyone loves heads that bobble, but why not use real human and/or horse hair for a bobblestache? As the head bobbed up and down, the mustache could softly sway in the breeze like the notes from a violin during a windstorm. Kids could spend hours twirling, swirling, and spinning the tips of the hair, forgetting about their violent video games and possible learning a thing or two about proper grooming.

So, thank you, Oakland A’s, for making a Rollie Fingers bobblehead. But no thank you for not making history.
