Tomorrow is SABR Day
If you’re the type of man or woman who watches the Super Bowl with one eye on the TV and one on the nacho plate, never truly satisfied with the on field action as there aren’t nearly enough ground balls to short, SABR Day might be for you. Held every year on the Saturday a week before the Super Bowl, it’s a way for baseball fans to all get together and talk about the game in the dead of winter. And yup, you guessed it, that Saturday is tomorrow.
I went to the event a few years back while I was in Boston and learned plenty, even as I sat just three rows behind Bill James, staring at the back of his head as if it held all the knowledge of the world (which it does). The event is open to everyone, members and non-members alike, so click here and see if there is a meeting in your area.
As for me, I’ll be attending the Los Angeles chapter meeting in La Habra. If there happens to be another West Coast person reading this who is also planning on attending, drop me a line and we can sit in the back and giggle about stirrup socks and Jack Glasscock for the afternoon.
