Fox to Air More Primetime Saturday Games

From The Sporting News:
“Fox plans to make five or six games available in prime time, instead of the three it usually has in its afternoon slot, USA Today reports. Last season, Fox broadcasted three times on Saturday night during the regular season and saw a big jump in ratings from its Saturday afternoon games.”
And this creates a great inner conflict in me. On the one hand, FOX will now be blacking out a larger number of the evening baseball games, blocking you, the viewer, from watching the game you want unless FOX just happens to be airing that game.
On the other, as Grant Brisbee postulates, more teams will probably schedule more day games to get around the black outs. And more day baseball is a good thing.
Back to the previous hand, I’m usually busy during Saturday afternoons and will then miss the game I really want to see.
But on the other hand again, by expanding the teams they cover, perhaps the game I want will be shown on TV.
But on that first hand, I’m a Pirates fan who enjoys watching back-of-the-rotation starters square off and have little desire for 4 hour Red Sox-Yankees marathons.
But on that second hand, my girlfriend will probably enjoy having my undivided attention on Saturday evenings.
But on that other hand, that being the hand we first considered, what if I just really need to see the Astros play the Diamondbacks?
Oh, I just don’t know what to think anymore.
