Octavio Dotel will be taking his arm and outstretched tongue to his eleventh team, and fourth since Opening Day last year, as he has signed a one year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Assuming the Jays play similarly to last year, he should make Torontonians very happy until July when he’ll be flipped to another club, and quite possibly another team after that, before the season ends.
If Dotel finds a way to keep pitching until his 40th birthday, there are better than even odds that he passes Mike Morgan, Matt Stairs, and Ron Villone for most teams played for in a career.
