Sorry, David Eckstein, but this is the scrappiest player in Major League history. He hit a combined .171/.232/.199 across parts of three seasons between 1884 and 1887. And just in case you thought that perhaps those were decent numbers for the time period, he owns a career OPS+ of 28.
But good on ya, Scrappy Carroll, for being remembered nearly 130 years later. That’s an impressive feat.
