RA Dickey Makes the World In His Image

For the second consecutive start, RA Dickey decided that he cared not for the self esteem of the batters and once again threw a one-hitter. After narrowly missing a no-hitter against the Rays last time out, Dickey went up against the Baltimore Orioles and came within a Wilson Betemit of baseball immortality.

Needing 114 pitches and jamming 96 knuckleballs down the Orioles throats, Dickey once again had to settle with a mere one-hitter. Over the course of his last five starts, Dickey has pitched 41.2 innings, striking out 52 batters, walking 5, and allowing ZERO earned runs. That’s…insane, right?

Dickey is now 11-1 with a tied for the league leading 2.00 ERA and, should his knuckleball still pass through multiple dimensions before arriving at home plate, threaten for a Cy Young come season’s end.

Think of it like this: Dickey’s WORST start in the last month was 7.1 innings, with 1 earned run, and 11K’s.
