The Trade Deluge Continues

I really hope you like reading about trades. Because for the next 12 hours or so, this is all your going to read on every baseball site. Trades. Lots of them. In the time that it took me to write one post about trades, two other trades were completed as GMs have foregone sleep in exchange for 5 Hour Energy, demonic chanting, and the excitement that a new fifth outfielder brings.

The latest deals:

Mariners trade Steve Delabar to the Blue Jays for Eric Thames. Thames will be fondly remembered for having great facial hair and stealing Travis Snider’s spot at the beginning of the year before he, too, was jettisoned back to AAA. Delabar was a substitute teacher. This trade may mean nothing in the great scheme of things, but to me, this is everything.

Dodgers acquire Brandon League. So the Brandon League sweepstakes have finally ended and Brandon Belt is still a Giant. In exchange, the Mariners picked up Leon Landry (who I will consistently and erroneously call Leon Laundry and I’m sorry) and Logan Bawcom. League is one of those pitchers with fantastic stuff who has never truly been able to master his abilities, but while he should help improve the Dodgers bullpen it also precludes him from helping San Francisco’s. Because there’s a rule about playing for two teams. I think.
