Andrew McCutchen Expounds On Socks
Andrew McCutchen, in addition to being a ballplayer of supreme grace and talent, is also a stylish man about town, a Pittsburghian dandy if you will. Because he is also the object of my manly affections, he naturally loves socks. Fortunately, David Brown was there to talk to him about it.
Said McCutchen on his relationship with foot sleeves (emphasis mine):
“I have a LOT of different socks. During the regular season, that’s how I am. I’m over the black socks or plain white. The rest of the world, you can’t really see them unless I’m pulling them up. Or unless you slide and your pants come up. Or if I’m home and the cameras just happen to be on them.”
Sing it, Andrew! Though, if I may have just one request, let those socks fly. Sure, Major League Baseball may have a regulation on exposed socks, but as McCutchen explains later in the interview, they have yet to rule upon hidden socks. So why not slyly give the camera crews a little peek, just a tiny little peek, at the sartorial wonders wrapping your calves before you run onto the field? That’s not too much to ask, is it?
Be sure to check out the whole interview and should anyone ever send me a screengrab Mr. McCutchen in another pair of highly fashionable garters, not only will I be forever grateful, but I’ll probably give you some prize of undetermined origin and size.
