"I always said, it’s a great thing to be wanted. But I want to win here. I’ve said all along, this has been one of the best places I’ve ever played — the city, the fans. I’ll always love playing here. This is where I want to be, and until they force me out of here, this is where I’m going to be"

Chone Figgins on the rumors that he will be traded to the Oakland Athletics.

While Kevin Kouzmanoff may be no great shakes, the Athletics would be setting themselves up to possibly fail to reach 100 home runs with the addition of Figgins. Figgins has hit a total of 10 home runs across the last four years and is coming off his worst season as a professional at the age of 33.

UPDATE: Minutes after posting this, Buster Olney had this to say on Twitter:

“The Figgins conversations with Oakland/Seattle happened three weeks ago. Seattle not motivated to move him; it was never close to happening.”

So, there’s that.
