Tommy Lasorda is Finally Felled by Fashion
Tommy Lasorda is feisty old guy, certainly not content with riding off the last stage of his career as some kind of Dodger mascot. No sir, he is not.
However, there is one thing that has stopped him and it’s the one thing this blog was founded upon: socks. Says Tommy:
“The only thing tough about being 84 is getting dressed,” he concedes. “Putting on socks really kills me. I never wanted my players to go without socks, and look at me now, no socks.”
Look at the scientific achievements we’ve made in the 21st century with…dozens of PopTart flavors and apps that tell you where there are nearby parking spaces and still we can’t give give our aging baseball seniors a way to wear socks? For shame.
Be sure to read the rest of the article because, since it’s Lasorda, it’s filled with great quotes including his plans to have the Dodgers schedule attached to his tombstone. Oh Tommy, never change.
Also because I love you, Lasorda’s 1990 SlimFast commercial:
