Today’s Exciting Transactions of Little Importance
Braves Sign Rodrigo Lopez to Minor League Deal - The two-time league leader in losses gets another chance as the emergency option for the Braves. Just don’t compare him to Eppa Rixey, another two-time loss leader, who also won 266 games and was voted into the Hall of Fame. Upon election Eppa said, “They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren’t they?”
Giants Sign Josh Banks - He’s completely forgotten how to strike people out, but he also won’t walk anyone which is a nice thing to have stashed away in AAA.
Orioles Sign Jeff Fiorentino - The prodigal son, affectionately called ‘Screech’, returns. He didn’t exactly catch fire with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, hitting .246/.325/.356 in his time there.
Marlins Sign Greg Dobbs - You know how Dobby, the House Elf from Harry Potter, keeps showing up trying to find work but really doesn’t deserve it? That’s kind of like Greg Dobbs.
Orioles Sign Mark Hendrickson - When people talk about two-sport stars, they usually neglect to mention my personal favorite: Mark Hendrickson.
