Good News, Arizonians: Mark Grace and Daron Sutton Are Gone
That headline is cruel. I’m sure they’re good people and I don’t want to cheer for anyone losing their jobs and having to write cover letters again. However, the fact of the matter is that Mark Grace and Daron Sutton were bad at their jobs, making Arizona Diamondback broadcasts a must-mute affair and ranking 21st in FanGraph’s crowdsourced rankings. (That may be overly harsh to Sutton as it was hard to separate him from the absolute mess that was Mark Grace). But now, after Sutton’s suspension for refusing to wear team-branded polos, a fine stance to take in my opinion, and Mark Grace’s second DUI, the two are gone.
Steve Stone and Bob Brenly are among the candidates to replace them which would be fantastic. Stone is similar to Sutton, too often being dragged down by Hawk Harrelson’s tiresome act and Bob Brenly is among the best of the National broadcasters.
