Cardinals Beat Braves in Wild Card Playoff
This was a tough loss for the Braves, no doubt. After taking a 2 - 0 lead, they made three errors that led to four unearned runs. And then of course the infield fly call, which was clearly botched, and is now underlined by the one-game Wild Card playoff. The play magnifies the fact that this new addition to the post season schedule really can negate six months and 162 games. Essentially nine innings can do that.
That’s not to say that St. Louis wouldn’t have still pulled off a win. Atlanta did make those errors, which allowed the Cardinals to take the lead. You certainly can’t hang that on the umpires. There will be a lot written about this game over the next few days, but it’s an odd feeling to sit here now and react to it.
So, St. Louis advances. And there’s a lot of baseball yet to play.
