Ballplayers are Overwhelmingly Conservative
Over at Getting Blanked, Dustin Parkes has posted some of the results from a recent informal poll ESPN had with baseball players over their political affiliations. Not shockingly, the players are overwhelmingly conservative which, considering they are rich and hail from Southern and Midwestern climates, traditional conservative bases, is not too shocking. However, the enormous gap between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama is strange—I would have thought it to be closer to an 60/40 split rather than 80-4:
Who do you want to win the election?
- 81.8% for Governor Mitt Romney;
- 13.6% undecided; and
- 4.6% of President Barack Obama.

Joe Cowley (Chi Sun Times) told me the most—and maybe the only—liberal person in White Sox org is Kenny Williams, and the most conservative, by far, is Matt Thornton.

The thing about this is simply that sports stars’ political opinion, like actors and singers, shouldn’t matter to us....

Poll 20 players from the Texas Rangers and you’re bound to get this kind of result I think.
