That’s It, Literature Is Over

Hey everybody, stop writing. Hey! Are you listening? I said you can stop writing. Print is dead, it can no longer be improved. Why? Because a book featuring Ichiro’s most outrageous quotes has come out. Who needs more books now that this exists, rendering all other works of literature obsolete?

From author David Shields comes Baseball is Just Baseball: The Understated Ichiro collecting some of Ichiro’s most fantastical quotes (though I hope it explains why the cover uses a Yankees photo and not a Mariners one). If that doesn’t sound like something that would interest you, I’m not quite sure how medical science still classifies you as living creature.

The Seattle Post Intelligence posted a few quotes, including my personal favorite. While discussing some rowdy fans in Oakland hurling things at him, Ichiro said that similar things happened while he was playing in Japan:

“Any time you come in as a visiting team, things fall out of the sky. The gods once threw an aluminum can at me.”

If that sounds familiar, it’s probably because it’s also the basis of The Gods Must Be Crazy

So again, just a reminder, no more need to write books. Guess we can turn our attention to something more important now, like basket weaving or home brewing. You know, things Ichiro hasn’t perfected yet.
