"My personal condition is very good, not bad for a 39-year-old. I just enjoy this game. I feel I can still run very fast. Hitting is something that’s tough. You can have good swings and don’t get hits, bad swings get hits. Hopefully whatever it takes to help our team win is all that I am looking for."

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Damon would be the man to lead Thailand into the fray of the World Baseball Classic. Damon’s mother is Thai, and it was most likely only a matter of time before Damon, out of Major League work for the near-future and most likely not in consideration for a spot on the U.S. team, took up the call to arms. And that’s no small feat, given Damon’s arm strength!

So with Thailand set to face off against the Philippines, Damon got in the spirit and delivered a quote that seems like it went through the translation process and lost something along the way. Or perhaps it’s just that same old Damon approach to hitting.
