clutchingstems: All-time favorite mustache in MLB history?
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer, simply because of the many great mustaches that have graced the field of play in baseball’s 130 years. Naturally, I assume we can skip to the modern era, eschewing the grand mustaches before the 20th century.
If we were simply discussing the most important mustaches, the ones that we associate with the player now and forever, you would have to give it to Rollie Fingers.

However, personally, while the twirled handlebar is certainly a great look, I sometimes prefer my mustaches a little messier. In which case, Phil Garner or Al Hrabosky.

But, in the end, I have to give it a guy who had the complete package: mustache, sideburns, and afro. Sure, maybe I’m expanding the definition of mustache, but if we’re looking at all of the great things a ballplayer can do on the field, there is only one man for me: Eddie Murray:

I mean, my god, that’s just…beautiful. Just beautiful.

The ask box is open for Blogathon 2013, so send over your questions. And help support Doctors Without Borders as we look to raise $3,000 for the organization. And just a hint, but I can pretty much guarantee your question gets answered if you donate. So do it now. We’ll still be here when you get back.
