Hope On The Horizon As Bill Hall Returns For Another Season

There are many reasons for anyone - baseball fan or no - to be a fan of Bill Hall. He’s a utility player who hit 35 home runs while with Milwaukee in 2006. He shares my namesake. He played in 120 games for my beloved Red Sox in 2010, smashing 18 homers along the way. He’s a career .248/.308/.436 hitter who struck out 63 times in 185 at-bats in 2011, and when he strikes out, he does it with a passion. I have never met Bill Hall, but someday, I will, and he will buy me an ice cold Bud Light and a basket of waffle fries.
And now, Angels fans, you can rejoice because Jerry Dipoto has convinced Mr. Hall to bring his services to the Halos on a minor league deal.
He might be hard pressed to crack the Angels roster, but in our hearts, we’ll all be rooting for him, especially after a down year in 2012 that saw him play seven games and hit .222/.500/.556 over nine at-bats. He did knock one out of the park in that time, and his seven strikeouts to five walks could - COULD - be a sign of a breakout season to come. Let’s hope because we should all be so lucky.

“He shares [your] namesake” as in you were named after the same person? How in the world does anyone know who Bill Hall was named after?

Aww I’m happy he got signed somewhere! Even if it is just a minor league deal, at least he’s playing! :)
