What I’ll Miss About Spring Training
Opening Day is my Christmas, while Spring Training is like the wonderfully excruciating treat that is the month of December. While my excitement for the upcoming season is limitless, here are a few of the things I’ll miss now that spring training is over:
- Listening to the ambient stadium sounds over MLB audio before the game begins.
- Seeing the future stars of the game stuck in uniform numbers like 67, 93, 84 as they make first impressions with their big league elders.
- Hearing announcers fumble over their scorecards as they desperately attempt to follow the substitutions.
- Watching players like Jake Fox explode for 10 HRs, leading to unsustainable hype.
- Seeing organizational players, who will otherwise never sniff the Majors, compete against All-Stars and, sometimes, succeed.
- Having no reason to get worked up or involved in the result. It’s a time to simply sit back and enjoy the game.
- The hope that this will be the _________ team’s year.
