Homer Bailey is now the 27th man in Major League history to throw 2 no-hitters and, though it’s no Johnny Vander Meer, he’s the first since Nolan Ryan in 1973 to throw the last two in the Major Leagues.
Bailey needed only 109 pitches, striking out nine, and coming only a Gregor Blanco walk away from a perfect game as the Reds beat the Giants 3-0.
Bailey is now 5-6 on the year with a 3.57 ERA, making good on his two-time top ten prospect status.
