Weekend Matchups
Pick up some beer and some chips and get ready to settle in. It’s going to be a nice, long weekend.
Friday:
Texas Rangers (C. Lewis 3-0 3.80) at Seattle Mariners (C. Lee N/A)
One game separates the two clubs. The Rangers have tons of youngsters who may contribute this season, but look to Colby Lewis who pitched in Japan when opportunities were scarce in the States, to hold up the back of the rotation. So far he’s been doing. The Mariners problem hasn’t been their rotation, it’s been their inability to score runs. Today they welcome back their 1A pitcher in Cliff Lee, making their pitching truly terrifying.
Saturday:
New York Mets (M. Pelfrey 4-0 0.69) at Philadelphia Phillies (R. Halladay 4-1 1.80)
Coming into the weekend the Mets are in first place. What happened to the team that was supposed to be the laughingstock of the league? Mike Pelfrey has added a splitter and comes into the game having not allowed a run in 24 innings. Halladay is coming off of his first weak start after giving up 5 to the Giants. Expect him to be angry.
Sunday:
Kansas City Royals (Z. Greinke 0-2 2.56) at Tampa Bay Rays (W. Davis 2-1 3.68)
The Royals are almost as bad as Tampa is good. But with Greinke on the mound this should be an exciting, even matchup. That is, if the Royals can score any runs off of Wade Davis, and if the Royals bullpen doesn’t give away more Greinke leads.
