Hannibal Sanchez

You can call him that because he devours hitters. Or something. I don’t know, you try coming up with headlines that accurately reflect his last four starts:

  • 5/8 vs WSH: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 11 K
  • 5/14 @ WSH: 8 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K
  • 5/20 vs TB: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
  • 5/26 @ SF: 9 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
  • TOTAL: 31 IP, 16 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 34 K

That’s good for a 0.87 ERA, making his otherwise solid 2.60 season ERA look like absolute garbage. If Sanchez keeps it up, he and Josh Johnson should make the NL East a very, very difficult place to play.
