In the bottom of the first and with runners on first and second thanks to a walk and a single, Jose Bautista unloaded for his 20th home run on the season. Edwin Jackson threw a hanging 91 mph slider and Bautista knew just what to do with the ball.
It was a rare home run with runners on base for Bautista because, despite the 20 home runs, Bautista now only has 35 RBI. It’s both a function of runners not getting on in front of him and his rarely getting pitched to when there are.
Bautista now has hit three three-run home runs, four two-run shots, and 13 solo bombs.
