I Think Sean O’Sullivan Needs a Hug

Against the Rangers earlier today, O’Sullivan went 5.2 innings while getting battered for 15 hits, 10 runs, and five homers.
That’s not a typo, Sean O’Sullivan gave up five home runs with three of them coming in the second inning. But when your team blows through seven pitchers in 14 innings the day before, it’s just the kind of thing that happens. You grin and bear it for the good of your teammates. I doubt that makes O’Sullivan feel any better about being the first pitcher to post a line like that since Hugh Casey pulled the act in 1940.
Unfortunately, this may seem a little too familiar for the Royals as Vin Mazzaro was lit up for 14 runs in 2.1 innings only twelve short days ago. I never thought I’d write this, but Bruce Chen: Where are you?
