No disrespect to Felipe Paulino and his finely manicured beard, but when I saw that the Reds lost 2-0 to the Astros I just assumed that Roy Oswalt was pitching. Despite four walks in 8 innings, Paulino got it done against a Reds team that had homered in 18 consecutive games before today. Sure, the Reds were resting a few regulars, but credit goes where credit’s due.
His opponent, Mike Leake, did a fine job as well. Leake threw 6 innings and scattered 7 hits while lowering his ERA to 2.45. If Leake continues pitching this well throughout the season, he may give Heyward some serious competition for NL Rookie of the Year.
