At least the Royals are consistent; if they won’t score runs for Zack Greinke at least they won’t score runs for Bruce Chen. Chen was surprisingly effective as he went 4 innings and gave up only one run on 2 hits and 2 walks. Of course, Brad Thompson opened up the gates of Hell in his 1.2 innings, giving up 6 runs to Boston.
Don’t know if this will surprise you, but it surprised me. Bruce Chen is only 33 years old. Because he’s been shipped off to so many places and juggled between the Majors and Minors every few weeks, I assumed he had to be close to 40 years old. He’s only 33. Look forward to many more years of Bruce Chen pitching is what I’m saying, I guess.
David Ortiz had a dominating game with his 11th home run, 3 RBIs and 3 walks. Ortiz hit .363 with 10 home runs in May, so I feel I should apologize for saying he was done for. Sorry, David.
