Rajai Davis stole two bags as he increased his Major League leading total to 22 as the Athletics beat the Tigers 4-1. Neither pitcher deserved to lose, and it looked like Verlander was getting squeezed when Kouzmanoff hit an RBI single to ice it, but we all have to live with the results. Verlander went 7 innings and gave up 3 runs to go along with 8 strikeouts.
Unfortunately for Verlander and the Tigers, Trevor Cahill and the Athletics bullpen were just that much better. Cahill went 6.1 and despite 4 walks, he allowed only one run and the terrifying combo of Blevins, Wuertz, and Bailey was enough to hold the lead.
