News Report: Baseball Fan Accepts Less Money To Stay In Old Job, Cites Desire to Be “Part of Company History”

Dan Maginnis, Brooklyn resident and lifelong Yankees fan, who was crestfallen and betrayed by Robinson Cano signing with the Seattle Mariners, accepted $8,000 a year less to remain in his old position as floor supervisor at the 625 Atlantic Ave Best Buy.

Said Maginnis, “Listen, Staples put together a really interesting package of base pay, benefits, and vacation time. But at the end of the day, I want to feel like a winner. And you never feel more like a winner than when you pull the royal blue Best Buy polo over your head before your 8 am shift.”

Maginnis, a three-time Employee of the Month, whose recent Facebook posts have read, “Robinson Cano, you are a greedy looser!” and a photo of The Godfather with the caption, “Robinson Cano, maybe you’ve heard of a little thing called family?!” was momentarily swayed by Staples’ very generous friends and family discount. In the end though, Maginnis thought of his fellow workers.

"I could have jumped ship. I could have done it for money and finally fixed that hole in my oven. But I looked at these guys on the floor around me. What kind of example would I set if I jumped ship? I couldn’t do it to the organization. They believed in me when I was coming out of high school with no experience and look at me now. I’m the floor f—-ing manager."

Maginnis continued, “I could have been like Robinson Cano, plying my wares for the highest bidder, or I could care about something like loyalty and history. I chose to stick with the dream every kid has: of waking up and going to work in the big blue box next to the Burlington Coat Factory.”

Maginnis then went back to stocking Monster cables. Later that evening, Maginnis sent a tweet to @RobinsonCano: “You turned this back on the fans and this city. I hope you sleep well in Seattle, you jerk.”
