Edwin Rodriguez got a nice homecoming in that a) the Marlins beat the Mets 10-3 and b) he was still employed as the manager of the Marlins.
RA Dickey took his first loss of the season as the Marlin bats exploded for six extra base hits including three home runs, but the ball must have really been traveling as Jason Bay was also able to hit two home runs. Maybe a trip to Puerto Rico is what it took to wake up the slumbering Canadian slugger.
The Marlins also scored a rare point with me for wearing their Los Marlins jerseys. Yes, it’s a rip-off of the Suns jerseys, but they are from a town with a large Hispanic fan base (Perhaps large isn’t the word I should use to describe the Marlins fans) and they were playing in Puerto Rico. Whenever baseball games are played down there, the fans seem to really enjoy it. At some point a discussion of its viability as a host for a Major League club needs to be made.
