But after his last two starts in which he lasted only a total of 7.2 innings while giving up 12 earned runs, he came into Wednesday’s game against the Tigers with an ERA of 4.79. That’s why Minnesota fans had to be both heartened and disheartened with Slowey’s performance against the Tigers in the Twins 5-1 victory. On one hand, Slowey completely shut down the Tigers offense for six innings as he allowed only four hits and one run. On the other hand, he had to exit the game after a line drive bounced off his ankle, proving to all the world that Kevin Slowey possesses no superhuman qualities.
