DEADLINE

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There’s been a lot deadline action over the last few days, so let’s break it down real quickly.

Houston sent outfielder Hunter Pence to the Phillies for minor leaguers Jonathan Singelton (first base), pitchers Jarred Cosart Josh Redi, and a player-who-must-not-be-named-until-later.

The Indians traded highly touted pitching prospect Drew Pomeranz, along with minor league pitcher Alex White and first baseman Matt McBride, to Colorado for staff ace Ubaldo Jimenez.

Cleveland also traded Orlando Cabrera, who’s mainly played second base this year, to San Francisco for fringe prospect outfielder Thomas Neal.

The Mariners, trying to salvage something positive from this year, shipped starting pitcher Doug Fister and reliever David Pauley to the Tigers in exchange for LHP Charlie Furbush, outfielder Casper Wells, third baseman Francisco Martinez, and a player to be named at some point in the future depending on front office negotiations between the two ball clubs.

Koji Uehara got a new home with the Rangers, who sent semi-prospect cornerman (my new term for a guy who plays first and third) and starting pitcher Tommy Hunter.

Pittsburgh added potential power bat Derrek Lee by sending minor league first baseman Aaron Baker to Baltimore.

The Dodgers traded Rafael Furcal to St. Louis for a player whose name will be divulged once more time has passed.

Hiroki Kuroda will most likely still be a Dodger at the end of the day.

With second baseman Rickie Weeks on the disabled list and Casey McGehee struggling at third, the Brewers traded minor league outfielder Erik Komatsu to the Nationals for utility main Jerry Hairston Jr.

Washington received prospect shortstop Zach Walters from Arizona in exchange for Jason Marquis.

Boston sent minor league third baseman and sort of outfielder Yamaico Navarro and high-A reliever Kendal Volz to Kansas City for utility man Mike Aviles (is it safe to call him that yet?).

Rich Harden was not traded to Boston.
